Facts about Shatavari (Thaneervittan kizhangu )

 

              Shatavari plants climbs through the trees and generally grows throughout India in low forest regions. Mainly roots of the plant are used for preparation of various medicines. Shatavari also has essential components of vitamin B, bioflavonoid, essential calcium, zinc elements, triterpene saponins called Shatavarin I-IV, alkaloids, proteins, saponins and tannins.
              Shatavari helps in promoting health, particularly its use as galactagogue (enhancing breast milk secretion for lactating mothers) has been highlighted. Clinical study carried out by Dept. of Gynecology & Obstetrics, Ayurveda Hospital, Nepal on The Effect of Shatavari in Threatened Abortion and High Risk Pregnancy, proved that 90% mothers had a successful, healthy pregnancy and delivery if consuming shatavari. 
By nourishing female reproductiveorgans, it prepares them for conceiving. Helps in preventing miscarriages and is very useful as post partum tonic. Supports normal hormone utilization and normal blood hormone levels.
